Greetings Bobcats, old and new. I am so excited for the upcoming school year and to join this learning community. My name is Roy King III, and I will be the new Principal at Blackburn Elementary. I am new to this school community, but not new to the Independence Community. I have lived in Independence since 2009, and I have worked in the district since 2006. 

There will be some changes to the building this year, and I am looking forward to sharing more information with the school community soon. I am passionate about education and consider it a privilege to work with students and teachers. Thank you for trusting us with your student and for your ongoing support in our school community. It's always a beautiful day to be a Bobcat!
